New electronic resource: Artemis Primary Sources

Bangor now has access to Artemis Primary Sources, which allows users to search across all of their Gale primary source collections, and to analyse content using frequency and term-relationship tools. It allows researchers to uncover primary source documents in archives where they may not have thought to look.


120 Wiley journals get enhanced HTML update

Over the next few months the enhanced HTML, or Anywhere Article version of  journal articles, will become the default version on Wiley Online Library, for 120 of their journals.
This means search results and links will go to the enhanced HTML version in the first instance for these journals.
The older HTML version will still be available as a link at the top of the enhanced HTML version.

Changes to ScienceDirect

As of January 1st, 2016, ScienceDirect will cease supporting Internet Explorer 8. This will allow better accessibility, security and support for new browser technologies when any future enhancements are provided.


New Library Resource

A new resource has been subscribed to by the library – “Open Library of Humanities”. It offers freely available journals on the following subjects.
·         Classics
·         Modern languages and cultures
·         Philosophy
·         Theology and History
·         Political theory
·         Sociology
·         Anthropology
·         Film and new media studies
·         Digital humanities

New electronic journals

The library has subscribed to a new electronic journals package with Emerald. There are 111 journals in total and they will run from 2015 - 2017.
An example of some of the journals that will be available are:-
  • Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development
  • Online Information Review
  • Strategy and Leadership
  • Journal of Risk Finance

Ground-breaking Libraries Services initiative is a Times Higher Education Award-winner

Bangor University Library and Archives Service have received the Outstanding Library Team Award, presented at the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards 2015, along with other Welsh partners in the Wales Higher Education Libraries Forum (WHELF). WHELF comprises the National Library of Wales, all the Welsh universities, the Welsh NHS Libraries, the Open University in Wales and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
