SAINT DWYNWEN: LOVE, HISTORY, HERITAGE, AND PSYCHOLOGY

The Saint Dwynwen evening which launched the “Love your Library” campaign this week was a huge success. The evening was so well attended that there was standing room only within 10 minutes of the start of the event!

Dr. Ceridwen Lloyd Morgan, an expert in medieval studies, gave a very interesting talk on the history of Saint Dwynwen entitled Dwynwen: Saint of Sailors and Lovers.

Graham Williams from Natural Resources Wales talked about the wonderful work carried out on Ynys Llanddwyn and the history of the island. The name Llanddwyn means the church of St Dwynwen and the island itself is a wonderful place to visit.

Professor Oliver Turnbull gave a lecture with an interesting twist on Saint Dwynwen, love and the neuropsychology of happiness.

The evening was enjoyed by everyone and we hope to repeat this again next year in order to raise awareness about St. Dwynwen and her life.

Many thanks go to Rhianna Parry who entertained everyone with her wonderful harp playing.

The ‘”Design a poster competition” about Love Your Library was launched. We are encouraging all student to enter and leave comments on the Library and Archives social media pages and on the display boards in the library. New resource

The annual reload occurred on January 12th. The reload included the following changes:
Changed fields for Ovid MEDLINE
  • Institution (IN) - Display of this field visually enhanced.
  • Author NameID (AI) - To include full author name and link to ORCID number. See NLM information
  • Investigator Affiliation (IA) - See NLM information
  • Abstract (AB) and Other Abstract (OA)- Moved ‘Copyright’ from AB and OA fields into a new searchable ‘Copyright Information’ (CR) field.
  • Authors Full Name (FA) - Will display once, and not repeat in the Institution field.
New Limit in Journal Subset:

Study Aid at the Library

Study Aid is the Student’s Union’s support station for students whilst they revise for exams.

We’re offering information on the most effective way to revise, and we have a host of other practical support guides available. We’re also providing free tea and coffee and a listening ear to anyone who needs a chat.

Available 1-5pm 12-16 Jan at all library sites.(except Wrexham)

Technical Issues with Wiley Online Library (Resolved)

Please be advised that we are currently experiencing technical issues when using Wiley Online Library, including accessing Wiley Journals.

Both Wiley and IT are investigating this as a matter of urgency and hope to have this resolved very soon.
